WorldIslands is a free geography game and interactive world map. It started from a simple problem: big countries like France are easy to remember, but small island nations, territories and states are easy to miss. WorldIslands helps names stick by pairing them with real, detailed coastlines.
What you can do
- Play four games (Name the Land, Find the Land, Type Every Land and Click Every Land) for the whole world or one continent, with countries, capitals, flags, islands or states. Every game is free and unlimited, with or without an account.
- Explore the World map: tap any land for its flag, capital, neighbours, photos, name origin and history, and colour the globe by dozens of data layers such as population, GDP, languages, religion, rainfall and temperature.
- Build your island: with a free account you save your progress, draw and walk around your own island, meet neighbours from every country and see which places you still mix up.
- Take a quiz or browse the list of island countries.
Where the data comes from
Coastlines, borders and facts come from open sources such as Natural Earth, GSHHG, the World Bank, NASA, Wikipedia and Wikidata. Every source and licence is listed on the Sources & notes page.
Ads and the Island Pass
WorldIslands is paid for by clearly labelled ads and an optional Island Pass subscription. Ads never block a game, and no game needs payment.
